What I mean to put here is that except for cricket, no other sports is able to thrive in India. Those who play cricket are living a luxurious life and have star status whereas who play other sports are searching for jobs to meet their ends. Every time in the Olympics we are ashamed of calling us Indians. One gold medal for 1.2 billion people just doesn't sound good, whereas countries like Korea and UK get many. We must really do something about this. TV broadcasters and sponsors would of course put their money where maximum money is, we must have to do something to uplift other sports. We must start to appreciate sports, the hard work people put behind it .

I thing the options given by you for poll are not enough. The main cause for this situation is lack of promotion for other games while which the cricket is having. There would be no news for a hockey team whether they win or lose but for cricket some special programmes have been established in the TV and even the cricketers come in advertisements also. There must be promotions through media and newspaper so that the other players also get remembered.

Promotions really are the reason why cricket is so famous while other sports are lagging behind. But we cannot expect media or companies to just promote for the sake of the game, they have done their market research and there is just not enough money in other sports while in cricket they can earn in lakhs if not in crores. What really matters is that we people, its our choice to like a game or not. If we don't watch other games then why will the promoters and sponsors even bother about the game. No one watched commonwealth games or lets say Asian games in DD sports while all were after getting cable connection for world cup and twenty twenty.
People in India have no appreciation for other sports, although it is changing now, as people have started to watch soccer and tennis, but more or less there is no career for an Indian in any other game except cricket.
