India West Indies cricket series 2011 : An overview

After the two test matches between India and West Indies now Dhoni has got punished for slow over rate in bowling for the two matches. If the same performance is repeated even in the 3rd match, then Dhoni has to quit a test match. For not to get to that result Dhoni's fate is now in the hands of the bowlers whose performance would decide his next future test match. Because of this, at present Dhoni is in a stressful situation which would be cleared by the end of this last test match.

The leading captain in the world who has bought many cups to the India included with the recent world cup, Mahender Singh Dhoni is in a situation of tension and also to drop by one match at Lords, in a 1st test series match with England. This is with Dhoni due to the performance of the bowlers in the last two matches. The reasons and solution is discussed below. Without these steps we would definitely see Dhoni sitting in Pavilion on July 23,2011.

Front

There is a question to the bowlers of Indian team from his present captain, Mahender Singh Dhoni that for him to be played in the next test match, which is test match between England & India which is going to be held at Lords stadium. This is purely dependent on the performance of the Indian bowlers in the third test match between India and West Indies. This situation has been faced by our Indian captain due to the slow over rate of India in the last two test matches.
The loss of Dhoni in the opening test match at Lord's can have a affect over the series as his help to the team is lost and there may be some situation that after wards even he cannot help to win the series. Although the playes have a nice profile according to the previous matches against England but playing without a best captain in the world is definitely a loss.
For this not to happen in future, the bowlers must wake up and pacers who areintended to take a long time must be used wisely at required time and introduction of spinners in the middle of pacers is must to save time and to finish the sessions accordingly.
In the past, in 2nd test match at Barbados India has bowled three overs short to intended overs at the overall end of the day.

Major Problems for Dhoni in India West Indies series

1.To reach to the crease Ishanth is taking more time than the others and the professionals reported that the longest time is taken by the Ishanth Sharma in the second test match and it is seven minutes. So, Ishanth must be careful at his over rate.

2.Another case is of Praveen Kumar that after bowling of every ball he has an habit of looking at the face of the batsmen even after the ball is a dot. This must be reduced as this is not good on the part of a bowler.

3.Though India has a spinner, Harbajan Singh to controll the time, he too uses as similar to that of a fast bowler.

In Barbados test innings Harbajan bowled 14 and 19 overs in both the innings respectively and 81 overs are bowled by both Ishanth and Praveen. If Harbajan had bowled in quick time, Dhoni would have not faced this situation.
Dhoni commented that even the great bowlers like McGrath shall keep watches at the time of bowling. So, he adviced Indian bowlers in indirect way. This situation is already faced by Indian captain in the last year at Capetown also.

So, there is no other way except the better performance of the Indian bowlers as according to cricket rules the captain has to bear a ban of one match if continuously blamed 3 times for slow over rate.
