Jassu Patel is mostly remembered for his performance in a match against Australian Team in Kanpur where he took 14 wickets in the match. This was the best bowling performance by an Indian bowler in a Test Match at that time. And also his figures of 9/69 in the Australians First Innings were the best bowling performance in an innings by an Indian bowler at that time. Later both these records were broken.
Inspite of that great performance in the match against Australia in Kanpur, Jassu Patel's performance in other matches was not so great. This is the reason he only plays for India in just 7 Matches. Born on 26 November, 1924, Jassu Patel died on December 12, 1992 at his hometown Ahmedabad.
