Team India's misery in foreign soil continues. Australia won the Border- Gavaskar Trophy series 3-0 by winning the 3rd test match by an innings and 37 runs. India, who started batting on 88/4 on 3rd day, got all out for 161 runs. Virat Kohli is the top scorer for India with 75 runs. Dravid and Kohli were in crease at the start of play. But at 47, Dravid was bowled by Ryan Harris. Then Dhoni, Vinay Kumar, Zaheer and all were sent to pavilion in the intervals. India ended their fight at 171 in 63.2 overs. For Aussies, Ben Hilfenhaus took 4 wickets and Peter Siddle claimed 3.
Yesterday, India bowled out Australia for 369 runs. David Warner's awesomly struck 180 was the backbone of the innings. His stroke came from only 159 balls with 20 boundaries and 5 sixers. Ed Cowan made 74. The openers made a partnership of 223. Except them, not many Aussie batsmen could do much. The 10 wickets fell between 155 runs. Umesh Yadav took 5 wickets for claiming his maiden 5 wicket haul. In 1st innings, India had scored 161. India stepped into bat trailing 208 runs. As usual, the openers Gambhir and Sehwag returned to pavilion quickly. Tendulkar and Laxman also were sent to pavilion before getting settled. The only thing for India to breath briefly was the 84 runs partnership between Dravid and Kohli. Virat Kohli was the top scorer of Indian side in both innings. David Warner was declared the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.
With the defeat, the sharpness of criticism will be increased. It is the 7th defeat in a row for the Indian test team. The senior batsmen are who have to face the hard measures. Dravid getting bowled consecutively. Laxman fails continuously. Tendulkar was comparatively better though, he can't find big scores either. The 100th century still hangs as a question mark. The back to back foreign series losses may lead to an overhaul in the team. The demand for inclusion of Rohit Sharma in the test team has strengthened. The doubts over the place of Dhoni and Laxman in the team are also getting intense.
