Punjab and Baroda advanced to final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2011-12


In the Indian domestic cricket Twenty 20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2011-12, Punjab and Baroda teams has reached to the finals of the tournament which will be played at Mumbai on 27 March, 2012. Punja has beaten Mumbai and Baroda has beaten Delhi in the semi-final encounter.

Baroda and Punjab won the Semi-finals of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2011-12


In Indian domestic cricket Twenty20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, 2011-12 Punjab and Baroda has advanced to the finals after winning their semi-final matches on Monday (26 March, 2012). In the first semi-final of the tournament Baroda beats Delhi by seven wicket while in second semi-final Punjab won against Mumbai by 5 wickets. The final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be held at Mumbai on 27 March, 2012.
1st semi-final
After winning the toss Baroda choose to field. Their bowlers did well to restrict Delhi to a chaseable total. Except from opener Shikhar Dhawan no other batsman made good contribution to the total. This Delhi led played an brilliant inning of 62 runs in just 43balls in which he thrashed eight fours and two towering sixes. Delhi team were ale to score only 169 runs in 20 overs. From Baroda side Bhargav Bhatt took three wickets for 50 runs while Yusuf Pathan and Murtuja Vahora took two wickets each. Chasing the target of 170, Baroda lost their first wicket only at the score of 7. But opener Aditya Waghmode and Kedar Devdhar put together 143 runs for the second wicket in a quick time which leads Baroda to an easy win with 7 wickets remaining in the 18th over of their innings.
2nd semi-final
The second semi-final was a low scoring match at Mumbai which Punjab won with five wickets remaining. Punjab won the toss and choose to field first. They restrict Mumbai batsman to a low total of 122/9 runs in 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane was the top scorer from their side with 21 runs in 20 deliveries. From Punjab side Gony took three wickets while Rahul Sharma took two wickets in his economical spell of 2 for 15 in 4overs. In reply, Punjab opener Chandan Madan made the only fifty of the match scoring 55 runs of 44 deliveries and ensuring an easy win in 19th over.
