McHale started playing on ITF circuit in 2007. She won her first title in doules on ITF circuit at Serra Negra, Brazil in 2007. Her first singles title came at Rome, Italy in 2011. Apart from ITF circuit, she started appearing at WTA events in 2009. She got a wild card entry into the main draw of the 2009 Australian Open but lost in the first round. But at 2009 US Open she advanced to second round of the tournament in singles event.
In 2011 US Open tournament, she reached to the third round of the tournament in singles event which is her best performance at any Grand Slam Tournament in singles. She repeated similar success in 2012 Australian Open.
