India by taking six medals in London Olympics has their best performance in the history of Olympic Games in terms of number of medals. The previous best was four years ago at 2008 Beijing Olympics where India took three medals. This means India has doubled the number of medals. India stands 55th in the Medal Tally. In Beijing Olympics, it was 50. This is because Indian Olympic members failed to win a gold medal. But still the result of the games are satisfying. Wrestler Sushil Kumar was the Flag bearer for Opening ceremony while female boxer Mary Kom did this responsibility at the closing ceremony.

India sends 83 athletes for London Olympics among which 60 are men and 23 are women. Shooter Gagan Narang won the first medal for India by winning bronze medal in Men's 10 m air rifle. India won two medals each in Shooting and wrestling. One medal came in badminton and one medal came from boxing. Below is the list of medals India won at this Olympic Games:
