Newcastle United Football club was founded in 1892 when Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End merge together. The club then participated in the Football League. The club went on to win their first First Division League Championship in 1905. They again won the league in 1907 and 1909. In 1910, the club won its first FA Cup by defeating Barnsley by 2-0 in the final. Both the gaols were scored by Albert Shepherd. Newcastle United F.C. again won this tournament for five more times (in 1924, 1932, 1951 and 1955). In 1927, the club won its fourth and last First Division League Championship. Though its remains in the First Division of the league most number of seasons, it never able to won the League Championship again. Many big players were the part of the club during this period like Hughie Gallacher, Neil Harris, Stan Seymour, Sammy Weaver and Jack Allen. In 1943, famous footballer Jackie Milburn made his debut for the club. He went on to score 200 goals for the club in about fifteen year period.
1960-present
The club has mediocore performance during late 1950s and 60s. In 1964-65, the club won the Football League Championship for the first time. But the clubs real comeback came during mid 70s. They won Texaco Cup in 1974 and 1975. In 1980-81, Newcastle again made to the First Division before relegated in 1989. In 1992, the club again was in First Division Premier League. The club finished third in 1993-94 season in the Premier League and finished second in 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons. Players like David Ginola, Faustino Asprilla, Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley and Les Ferdinand were signed to the club. In 2001-02 season, Newcastle finished fourth in te Premier League. In May, 2007 Mike Ashley successfully got the ownership of the club
Recent Performances
In 2009-10 season, the club become the champion of Football League Championship for the third time. The club also won 2012 Guadiana Trophy by beating Olympiacos in the final.
